A nomadic bard of the margins, Herbert arrives wearing a suit of “armour” made from curious trinkets, forgotten objects, and roadside treasures. Each carries a story, a spell, or a fragment of memory. From these humble artifacts he spins yarns — comic, strange, tender, and mischievous — inviting audiences into a shared act of imagination.

Part tramp, part clown, part scop, part magician, Hedgerow Herbert speaks to something ancient: the human need for stories told face to face. The performance is playful yet reflective, humorous yet resonant, rooted in folk traditions while remaining entirely accessible.

This is theatre that thrives in festival spaces — at twilight, in a glade, around a fire, or in a village hall — where audiences can gather, listen, and wonder together.
